"WhatsApp’s new privacy policy"

WhatsApp’s new privacy policy

Hello friends, I have bought an update on WhatsApp's new policy. That is WhatsApp's updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy provide more information on how the messaging platform will use user data and, more importantly, share it with its parent company, Facebook. Users have till February 8, 2021, to accept these to continue using the Whatsapp platform. I will discuss the whole news regarding the WhatsApps new policy update.

What has happened -

Facebook sponsored messaging platform WhatsApp Updates Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that will come into force From 8 February 2021. It gives more information about how the messaging platform will do use users data and, more importantly, share it with parent company Facebook is moving forward.

What we do- Accept or Delete

WhatsApp updating its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy is nothing new for us. Most software services update their services occasionally. It is standard practice that in order for you to continue using these services, you have to accept the new terms and policy. But this time, WhatsApp is giving a deadline until February 8, 2021, to accept the new policy or delete your account.

Both Android and iOS users Received a full-screen pop-up on their application, that provided a snapshot of major updates.

Important policy changes -

The older version of the Privacy Policy began with the following lines:‘Respect for your privacy is coded into our DNA. Since we started WhatsApp, improved aspired to build our services with a set of strong privacy principles in mind. '

But now those lines are no longer part of the new privacy policy. however, WhatsApp stay end to end encrypted. it means no one can see your message or share with others. But the new policy suggests an increased reliance on other Facebook products.

What types of Facebook products -

WhatsApp's new privacy policy notes that when users "rely on third-party services or other Facebook company products integrated with our services, information about those third-party services is shared with you or with them Might be possible." Examples of this type of third-party integration include using an in-app video player to play content from third-party platforms.

WhatsApp states that when a user is dependent on it, information such as an IP address and the fact that you are a WhatsApp user may be provided to the product of the third party or another Facebook company in question.

Remember that when you use Google Drive or iCloud to back up your chat, these services are effective in gaining access to your messages. Technically nothing has changed, except that WhatsApp is expanding further to share data when users rely on these third-party integrations.

It is also clear that when someone is "using third-party services or other Facebook company products, their own terms and privacy policies will govern your use of those services and products." Given that WhatsApp now has integration with room-like features on Facebook, this explanation may be necessary for many users.

Ads and offers -

It also mentioned that the exchange of information will involve improving "relevant offers and advertisements of Facebook company products".

Some examples given of the WhatsApp-Facebook integration are the ability to pay for products on WhatsApp using Facebook Pay, which is available in the US.

Hardware information -

According to WhatsApp. they collecting information around your device such as- battery level, signal strength, app version, browser info, mobile network, connection info(including phone number, mobile operator or ISP), language and time zone, IP address, device operation info.

These were not mentioned in his previous policies.

About data location and storage -

WhatsApp also explicitly mentioned in the privacy policy that it uses Facebook's global infrastructure and data centres, including storing user data in the United States. It was not explicitly mentioned in the previous policy. It also states that in some cases the data will be transferred to the United States or other parts where Facebook's affiliates are based, stating that "these transfers are necessary to provide global services in our terms."

Location information -

WhatsApp's new policy states that even if users do not use their location-relationship features, they "collect other information such as IP addresses and phone number area codes to approximate your common location (city, country)".

About Payment data -

Given that WhatsApp has started payments in India and other countries, it is not surprising to see this part of the privacy policy widening further. WhatsApp says that if you use their payment services, they will "process additional information about you, including payment account and transaction information." However, WhatsApp Payments has its own dedicated privacy policy in India.
